Assessment of the Soil Buffer Capacity in the Sea of Azov Basin Under Heavy Metal Pollution

Heavy metals (HM) are among the most hazardous soil pollutants. The intensity of accumulation and distribution HM in soils directly depends on ecological conditions pedogenesis its buffering properties. At same time, a significant as result anthropogenic impacts reduces capacity resistance to pollution. purpose this work was assess pollution Don River delta coast Taganrog Bay Sea Azov undergoing great impact. buffer experimental carried out using Il’in’s method (1995), based calculation inactivation ability soils: organic matter, clay fraction (particle size < 0.01 mm), carbonates, sesquioxides, pH. content compared with Clarke maximum permissible concentration accepted Russian Federation. It found that could be ordered by value following (in decreasing order): haplic chernozem ≥ alluvial-meadow light loamy solonchak > sandy primitive stratified alluvial soil.
